March 2024 Talk

SAE Alberta hosted an in-person meeting on March 7, 2024 for students and industry professionals. We were honoured to host Dr. Jay Zhou for a technical seminar titled “Reliability of Autonomous Vehicles”. The seminar provided an introduction to Reliability Design and Analysis for autonomous vehicles.

AGM 2023

The SAE Alberta board held its Annual General Meeting with a short technical talk over the lunch hour (11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, via a virtual Zoom meeting.

May Meeting

SAE Alberta held a technical meeting on May 8th, 2023 with guest speaker, Jeff Dix, Senior Principal Engineer for Nissan Technical Center North America. Mr. Dix discussed factors that affect vehicle safety and the technologies that can be applied to address these factors.

March Event – Edmonton Bus Fleet Tour

The City of Edmonton Fleet Services hosted a technical tour of their industry-leading facility the Kathleen Andrews Transit Garage on Friday, March 24th, 2023.  The tour provided an opportunity to learn about the programs and technologies, active and in consideration, supporting Edmonton in paving the way to full electrification of their public transit system.  With 60 electric buses currently in service and a hydrogen bus pilot in the works, Branch Manager Eddie Robar and his Fleet and Facility Services team are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and providing sustainable transportation alternatives.

2022 AGM

The SAE Alberta Section’s 2022 Annual General Meeting was on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 11:45 AM. It was our honour to feature a pre-recorded technical presentation by Vice-Chair Lee Krywitsky on the “Till-E – Electric Rototiller Project.”

BC Highway 5 Repair Webinar

On June 8th at 1pm MDT, SAE Alberta hosted a webinar in which we were fortunate to invite John Babineau from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure of British Columbia. Mr. Babineau discussed the repair effort to restore BC Highway 5 that sustained heavy flood-related damages in late 2021 and had to be shut down.

AMTA Presentation
